So much hiking

Day 26

Got up early again to go to Monument Valley.  We stopped at the Canyonlands National Park on the way, it was so amazing the views were just simply amazing. We also stopped at the Goose neck and saw the Jaun River. On the way into Monument Valley we drove along one of America's most impressive road vistas which is the scenes you see travelling southwest from the Mexican Hat, Utah on Highway US 163.  This is the northern route through Utah to Monument Valley and was used as the location in Forrest Gump where Forest ended his cross-country run.

After we set up camp a few of us went to the pool, then we went on a jeep tour.  The jeep tour was so amazing.  Our guide Jim told us so much about the history about native Americans and that they arent navajo they are de nee.  Some of the roads were so bumpy it was fun like a roller coaster.  We had traditional native food which was beans, steak, cheese and salad in a taco which was amazing.

They also played a flute like instrament, danced and sang some songs for us.  There were other trek groups there but of course we were the loudest.  We went back to camp after and just chilled out, we were all choking for a drink but it is illegal to have any form of alcohol on navajo land.

Day 27

We got up early to watch sunrise which was so stunning watching it over Monument Valley.  We left early to go to the Grand Canyon.  The drive there was so good and really scenic.  Abby got us to draw faces on these paper bags but wouldn't tell us why.  She had us put them on and guided us to the point so we all held hands like we were in primary school.  Then she positioned us right at the ledge.  When we took our bags off there was loads of people looking at us which fun, the views were amazing.  We went back to camp for dinner and a few drinks.

Day 28

Got up at 4am this morning to watch sunrise at the Grand Canyon.  It was so nice having breakfast while watching sunrise.  Got some great pics.  We did a hike called Bright Angel.  The hike was so amazing we later heard though that somebody had fallen and died such a shame.  A few of us tried to have a power nap but it was to hot.

We went to Lake Powell and had a wee swim.
