This is not goodbye

The past few months have been the countdown to a bitter-sweet farewell.  While im excited for new adventures, im also really sad to say goodbye to all the amazing people that have made the last two years the best time of my life.

When i started at Flyover a year ago i had no idea how important these people would become now in my last few weeks it is getting so hard to say goodbye and to know that i wont be seeing them everyday.  They are a crazy bunch but that is what makes our job so much fun and that reflects on our customer service.  This summer with the Flyover crew has been they best summer i have had in a long time, yeah it has been busy and yeah there has been many tough moments but as a team we all got through it.  We had the tourism challenge at the start of summer which was great as it meant we could go out and see all the amazing tourist attractions that Vancouver has to offer for FREE and we got to hang out with each other at the same time.  I am however happy that some of them are planning on coming out to Australia next year which will be amazing to see them all in the land downunder.

My lovely Gamedayers i love you all so much the past two years have been amazing and i am so lucky i got to spend it with you amazing people.  We have had so many great times at work and outside of work i honestly feel that we are just one big family.  In my two years with you guys we have done Heritage Classic 2014, Grey festival & cup 2014, two Whitecaps seasons, two Lions seasons and lastly the Fifa Womens world cup, there has been so many challenging times during all of it but we survived and stuck together as a team.  I am so proud of each and everyone of you, i know you will all do great with whatever life throws at you.

Last but not least Greg,Chloe,Wayne, Becki, Charlotte, Sarah, Rachel, James, Adele and Kerrianne   you guys are what have made my time year, without you guys my time would have really sucked.

This is not goodbye simply see you later.

New visa new job new apartment more adventures

Since my last blog my life has been pretty hectic with new visa applications, new job, new apartment and lots of adventures so I haven't had time to keep my blog up to date.

So the day I got my new visa I went to my first hockey which was a great experience however I am not used to sitting quietly watching any sports - I like to make loads of noise and cheer my team on. I am told it is a Vancouver thing which I have since discovered to be true.

I got a new job at flyover Canada as a guest service agent which is a pretty amazing job. Flyover is such an amazing company as it is brand new and it is the longest stimulated ride in the world which amazing to be part of that. It also helps that it is a pretty amazing experience with the most breathtaking views ever.  I also have some of the best work colleagues ever. I love the fact that we are all a team inside and outside of work. I had only just started and I was invited out with them for drinks and to giants games which were so much better than Canucks games.

In November I went home for a surprise visit which was great being home seeing everyone and having my home comforts but at the same time it made me realise that I no longer fit in with my friends. They have moved on although still doing the same things they did before I left they just have got used to me not being there. I also realised that I have nothing in common with them anymore. They don't know about all the amazing things I have seen or done. They just don't seem to understand the need for me to travel.

Myself and my friend Becki decided we were going to go to Vegas for my birthday in February and I happened to mention to my friend Victoria back home that I was going so she decided she wanted to join us so our girlie holiday became a reunion for us two which was amazing as I didn't see her when I went back. I managed to score us vip entry into all the clubs that we went which was so amazing (free entry free drinks). Limos everywhere, vip entry we were living the life.

In between all of this I moved apartment to right by both Rogers arena and BC place which is amazing and the views are so great.

Trip accross the rockies

Me and my room-mate decided to take a road trip to the rockies since she is leaving to do some more travelling.

We started in Valemont and stayed in the Ramada.  It was so amazing and we could just walk out our balcony into the pool and hot tub which was seriously cool.  Once we had settled in we went out for a bit to eat the Cariboo restaurant.  It was your typical in the sticks restaurant and i think that the whole village was there that night.  After our dip in the pool we went to bed since we had been driving all day.

Next up was Jasper and Lake Louise. On the way there we had to stop as there were3-4 cariboo and a bull cariboo. It was so amazing to up this close to such stunning animals. We stayed in the Hi Lake Louise which was amazing and it was so good you would not think that it was a hostel.  We got hope early to do hike the tea house and it was so worth it as we were the first ones up to the top which meant that we had a great opportunity to get great pics without having anyone get in our way.

Words cannot describe how amazing the views are. You really need to be there to experience it yourself as there are just no words to describe it.

We went to the Icefields after seeing the Lake Louise and it is really sad to see just how global warming is affecting places like this. It is just heartbreaking that it is slowly disappearing from our lives at such a rapid pace.

Next on the list was Banff. We did lots more sightseeing. We went to the Banff hot springs which was super cool being in a spring when its cold outside looking at the snow capped mountains. Each place that we go to is more stunning than the last.  We did this boat trip over the lake which was so amazing to be out on the lake and seeing all the mountains in all thier glory.

Our last stop on this amazing trip was Kelwona.  We didnt really do that much there it was more just a stop over to break up the trip.  There was however a canadian version of the Loch Ness Monster

Great road trip and almost 3000km travelled

Flag Polling for my new visa

So the time has come that i had to flagpole to get my new visa so i thought i would share with y'all how go go about getting your new visa.

You have a few options on doing this which include going to the states for the day or just simply going to the border and back. I chose to just go to the border and back as i had work the next day.

I went to Point Roberts which you can get to quite easily from downtown. It is about an hour and half away from Downtown so alot quicker than going to Seattle or Portland.  You get the Canada line to Bridgeport and get the 601 bus to South Delta and get off at the second last stop. You just go threw the park and turn right onto 1st ave and just walk along and you will see it. Once there you have to go to the building furthest away as you arrive. It's the white building and you have to stand on the pavement next to the queuing cars. Eventually someone in the window will call you forward. Tell them you have to leave and re-enter Canada in order to claim a Canadian work permit.

They will give you a piece of paper and send you to the Canada building. Once there, there are footprints on the floor for people walking up, again you'll be standing next to queuing cars. Eventually one of the Canadian border people will call you forward. Tell them your there to claim your new work permit and they will send you to the main building.

Once there the border official will take your passport and letter of acceptance and they other documents that they want to see and ask you to take a seat. All being well you should get your new permit within about 20 minutes.

I went on a tuesday around 1pm so it was fairly quiet so it is best to go around midday during the week so you can get done quickly.

Hope this was helpful

Such a bad blogger

Things have been so crazy this year with starting a new job with the Vancouver Whitecaps and moving to a new place and many many nights out.

I will start with my new place.  I didn't get on with my room mates so i was looking for a new place and my mate Cheryl had told me that there is a room in her place available so i took that.  The room is so much bigger than the one i had before and the room mates are so much nicer.  I only moved like two blocks so i was still in the West end and living on Robson which is known as Vancouver's runway.

Now onto my awesome job.

I managed to land myself many peoples dream job - working for the Whitecaps.  This job is by far the best job i have had like ever.  I pretty much get paid to watch the game which is awesome since i love football or soccer as it is known here.  I had only been with them for a few weeks when i got promoted and now i am getting even more responsibility.

The past few months i have been to so many nights out it has hard to keep track of them all but i have met so many amazing people who i will definitely be keeping in my life when and if i return home.

Vegas

The day before i left for Vegas i had planned to have a quiet night and also an early night. Well that didnt happen i ended up meeting the girls i went with for a drink and several drinks later we strolled home got our suitcases and headed to the airport still drunk - start as you mean to go on i say.

The girls were on a flight 30 minutes before mine as i only booked the week before and their flight was full, anyhow the snow decided that at the very moment my flight was due to leave it wanted to snow really heavily which meant my flight was then delayed lucky me.

I was staying at the Planet Hollywood which is right in the middle of the strip which was perfect for us.  We had just dumped our stuff and headed straight to the bar.

First night there we got so drunk and ended up showing the entire bar how to do the time warp dance was the best experience ever.  Our entire trip was just a blur as we drank so much.

Been so busy the last few weeks

Since my last blog i have been so busy with working, having a few nights out and also going the the christmas market downtown.

We went to victory square for the rememberance day parade, it was so amazing like something that you cant imagine.  Everyone really does support the armed forces in Canada and the turn out of people on this day really shows that.

The Christmas Market is this German market that has the most amazing apple cider and muled wine ever.  There are lots of little stalls that has typical german food, candy, toys and christmas decorations.  It only cost $3 dollars to get in and your ticket last for the whole season which is such an amazing idea.

I found the British store in New Westminister and spent a small fortune but at least all my cravings were sorted.
